Associated Wholesale Grocers

Distribution Centers

The Associated Wholesale Grocers’ distribution center in Pearl River, about 40 miles north of New Orleans, Louisiana, ships products to more than 300 stores — from Texas to the Florida Panhandle.

After numerous weather delays, Lithko placed 139,443 square feet of concrete in eight days (seven placements). The slabs consisted of 10-inch-thick concrete reinforced with mesh that weighed 500 pounds per sheet.

A freezer slab that required six inches of foam insulation made up 75,000 square feet of the concrete. This required the use of a laser screed and large aggregate, so we had to walk the mesh in during placement and use a Telebelt to convey the concrete material.

Each pour became a complex process with many moving parts and pieces. In-depth planning and hard work by the project team helped us overcome the vast majority of weather delays, making the project a success for both Lithko and our customer, Tippmann Construction.
