The Virgin Hotel
Our Nashville team is honored to be a part of the construction of the third location of Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotels (first and second in Chicago & San Francisco) in the historic busy Music Row area. It will include 3 levels of parking, lobby/conference area, 10 stories of rooms and pool deck/bar on the roof. Our work on the cast in place structure includes 8-inch post tension flat plate deck, heavy mat foundations, columns, shear walls, foundations, slab on grade and slab on metal deck.
Our team selected the J&S Flying Form Column Hung Formwork System as the best option for this high-rise building. The formwork is vertically loaded into the column, decreasing the need for reshoring and increasing the speed of assembly.
Working in a busy historical district brings limited laydown space and noise ordinances, but our team has overcome other unique construction challenges as well on this project. The building sits 2 ½ stories in the ground and the unknown rock conditions caused the team to work with the structural engineer to come up with the quickest and cheapest fix to finalize design of the foundations. The timeliness of the completion of the structure could only be performed after the excavation was complete. The team has overcome many obstacles in regards to the excavation in the hole and are now above street level and working on the tower.
Lithko is excited to be a part of the construction of this signature hotel in the heart of Nashville.
