OSU Interdisciplinary Research Facility

The Ohio State University Interdisciplinary Research Facility is a six-story institutional construction project that required advanced structural concrete systems, including mat foundations, walls, columns, and elevated slabs. A key milestone was a 6,700-cubic-yard mat foundation pour with 550 tons of reinforcing steel, completed in a single high-volume placement. 

The project featured an innovative voided slab system to reduce weight while maintaining performance, along with 26-foot-tall architectural concrete walls requiring Class A finishes. Through detailed planning and mockups, the team ensured quality and constructability. 

This project highlights Lithko’s expertise in university construction, large-scale concrete placement, and complex institutional concrete structures.
