OU Health & Science Plant

This higher education construction project featured a hybrid cast-in-place and precast concrete structure with 44-foot-tall cast-in-place walls extending from the basement to the roof and precast veneer panels installed at the 100-foot elevation.

Built within a constrained urban footprint, the project included deep structural pits, limited site access, groundwater challenges, and elevated isolated beam construction more than 35 feet above grade. Extensive wet-curing requirements for both vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces demanded detailed planning and execution to maintain schedule and quality.

The project’s architectural concrete quality exceeded expectations, leading the owner to leave the exposed cast-in-place walls unfinished rather than apply the originally specified rubbed finish.
