Project Acura

This industrial concrete construction project required high-volume production supported by an on-site batch plant, ensuring consistent concrete supply while underground work and slab-on-grade operations progressed simultaneously. 

The project followed an accelerated schedule, requiring tilt-up panel construction to be completed before slab placements began. Panels were cast on temporary casting beds, and interior wall systems were optimized by converting from CMU to tilt-up concrete walls, improving speed and constructability for the water renewal facility. 

Despite weather delays, the team maintained momentum by executing 3–4 concrete paving pours per week, supported by detailed planning and efficient sequencing. The 60,000-square-foot facility includes complex tilt-up panel layouts, with one-third forming interior rooms. 

Additional challenges included managing temporary bracing systems installed on helical anchors, which required real-time adjustments due to design-build changes. Lithko’s involvement in BIM coordination was critical, ensuring precise placement of MEP and owner-furnished openings within tilt-up panels, reducing rework and improving overall construction efficiency.
