Project NoMo is a new mixed-use development on Meeting Street in Charleston, SC. The project has 5 levels of wood framing, retail and parking on the ground level, two courtyards, and one pool deck located on level 4. Lithko’s scope is comprised of the following:

  •     Slab on grade and 2 levels of interior parking garage
  •     3 levels of elevated slabs
  •     Level 2- 50,000 square feet
  •     Level 3- 80,000 square feet with 30,000 square feet of high shoring
  •     Level 4- 80,000 square feet, podium slab for the wood framing to transition
  •     Below grade vault under slab on grade ramp

The site is tight with surrounding limitations of railways and operational restaurants. We will have to work with limited locations for concrete pump access. Additionally, we will need to coordinate two tower cranes to bring up the total footprint of the building in two phases.

We are working closely with the design team to solve post tensioning challenges due to the unique footprint shape and interior parking garage ramp/shear wall integrations. Furthermore, there are no pour strips, which is not typical for this type of project.

Our work on this mixed-use project will commence in December. We have an aggressive schedule, including an intermittent milestone to get block and framing started within phase 1.  This is a key critical project for our Charleston BURG. Our team has spent numerous hours during our planning phase, focused on our execution plan and identifying potential challenges. We have issued RFI’s and have asked many questions to stay upfront and coordinate with the general contractor prior to mobilization.
