University of Kentucky Health and Education Building

The University of Kentucky Health Education Building is a large-scale higher education construction project and the largest academic facility on campus. This complex institutional concrete construction project required detailed advanced logistics planning due to tight site constraints, active campus traffic, and proximity to classrooms, dorms, and a VA hospital. 

A major challenge included integrating an active communications duct bank into the structure, requiring suspended beams and precise cast-in-place concrete coordination. Additional complexities included incomplete geotechnical data, rock excavation, and unique structural elements such as skewed walls and oversized pilasters. 

Winter conditions required strict cold weather concrete placement practices to maintain quality and durability. Through detailed scheduling, safety planning, and stakeholder coordination, the team delivered a high-quality LEED-certified academic building supporting healthcare education and workforce development.
