University of South Carolina Health & Sciences Building

Lithko partnered with Gilbane on the University of South Carolina Medical Research Building, a new LEED-certified research and education facility in Columbia, SC. The project features a hybrid steel and cast-in-place concrete structural system, including five levels of concrete floors designed to support advanced laboratory and research spaces.

Key project elements included Class A architectural concrete finishes, auger cast pile foundations, and complex dewatering operations in sandy, water-prone soil conditions near a creek. Through advanced modeling, high-performance concrete coordination, and proactive scheduling, the team maintained quality, safety, and productivity while identifying significant schedule savings.
