500 West Trade

Our Charlotte BURG continues to change the Charlotte skyline with the addition of a new mixed-use building on Graham and West Trade streets. Our scope on 500 West Trade includes the parking garage topped by a podium slab, and the 14-story apartment tower.

The team is constructing the two structures simultaneously, creating a unique set of challenges. Adding to the complexity, the parking garage wraps around the tower and there are two (2) live train projects adjacent to our site. This complicates logistics and necessitates coordination with contractors outside of this contract.

We are utilizing three (3) different deck formwork systems on the project, requiring an efficient sequencing and planning of the systems. We are working with the Dokamatic Tables for the garage/podium, Peri PD5 for tall framing, and Peri Sky Table for the tower.

There are two (2) pools, one on the tower roof and another on the podium deck, requiring more formwork and reshoring than usual.

The project is off to a successful start due to our extensive turnover process with not only the field, but the preconstruction team who put this estimate together.
