Academy on 4th
Academy on 4th is a 202-unit mixed use project that will include apartments and commercial space in downtown Newport. Our Lexington team will install the foundations, including grade beams, strip/spread footings and mat foundations. Our scope includes 1-sided walls, conventional 2-sided walls, core walls, columns, post tension slab and topping slab as well.
Over 80 percent of the perimeter of the building is designed with the 1-sided wall system which adds complexity to our work. We will need to pour against a lagging system and there will be no uniformity with the exterior, all formwork needs to be custom built for every placement. We elected the EFCO Formwork system for the walls. Our team felt this was the best option due to the earth retention design. For the columns we selected MEVA Light.
We performed two of the six post-tension structural deck placements; 800 and 900 cubic yards. The sequence and size of these placements are not typical but were necessary to the structural design.
Our schedule was fast, but we met our durations by utilizing the project execution process. We monitored and tracked our progress daily and made adjustments as necessary to ensure that the contractual required dates were met.
