Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Headquarters and Parking Garage
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is the United States third largest tribe located in the heart of southeastern Oklahoma in Durant. The Tribe is building a $240 million central headquarters campus located on 80 acres to serve its 200,000 members. This will allow them to consolidate 30 different offices across Durant into one location. The project consists of a five story headquarters building, 765 space parking garage, roadways, surface parking lots, and sidewalks. Lithko’s scope will include all of the sitework, structural piers, grade beams, walls, slab on grade, slab on deck, and a formed elevated deck for the parking garage.
With the 80 acre site, the biggest challenge was ensuring the correct concrete was delivered to the correct building. There were few rain days but Lithko has been able to stay within Manhattan’s original schedule completing the headquarters in mid-December, the parking garage in late January and the site work by July of 2017. The use of our Daily Planning Process helps us to keep Manhattan’s desires a priority, which has always been an integral part to Lithko’s relationship with this General Contractor.
One unique aspect to the parking garage is the use of bonded post tension cables. Typically these are only used in highway bridges. A plastic duct is installed prior to the beam before it is poured. Then the supplier pushes the cables through the duct and stresses it. This design allows for heavier than normal traffic, such as a fire or semi-truck.
