Dumb Friends League
Dumb Friends League, is the largest community-based animal welfare organization in the Rocky Mountain region, providing a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Their facility was originally built in 1974 and is due for an update. Thru a new 40 million dollar campaign to upgrade the facility, Calcon Construction awarded Lithko the concrete work for the new building and will increase the square footage about 25,000 SF.
Key areas of work in include footings, stem walls, one sided walls against existing masonry walls, slabs on grade, slab on mezzanine and topping slabs. Slab on grade and topping slabs will require multiple pours in order to make all floors drain with zero ponding. Constructing the one sided walls against existing masonry building walls required careful coordination with all of the teams involved including the underpinning contractor, architect, engineer and Calcon to ensure that formwork was braced and tied back sufficiently to withstand the concrete pour pressures. Slab on deck will start in May and slab on grade and toppings will wrap up towards the end of September.
