Harding Place

Mixed Use

The Harding Place project in downtown Charlotte will offer 225 apartments with 350 parking spaces close to a large medical center that employs many in the area. The footprint of the building took up over 75% of the site space, causing many logistical challenges. Deliveries had to be strategic due to the lack of staging space; materials had to be purposefully ordered as needed and required close coordination between all vendors on site.

The building has a cast-in-place storm water detention vault integrated into the structure. City code restrictions prevented the storm water vault from being any deeper on the property.  Not wanting to sacrifice garage space or delay the schedule, the owner and design team elected to build a cast-in-place storm water vault. Also, unique to the building, Xypex Concentrate was mixed into the concrete as waterproofing. The crystals in the compound react with the water in the concrete closing any passageways in the normally porous material.

The team utilized our Project Execution Process to tackle the tight schedule and completed the project 2 weeks early.
