Hilton Garden Inn / Homewood Suites Summerville

Hospitality

The new dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites will be the first project with a tower crane and the tallest building in Summerville. Lithko’s scope is comprised of 8 levels (20,000 sq ft.) of cast in place frame with 8-levels of core walls, two 3-level cores, 50,000 square feet of slab on grade, and 20,000 square feet of slab on metal deck.

The building is designed with an expansion joint in the middle of the post tension decks with shear walls on both sides and the post tensioning stressing into the expansion joint. During the planning phase, the project team worked to adjust the PT design by dead-ending at the expansion joint and double stressing on the opposite side. The team also came up with a way to pour the walls on both sides of the expansion joint monolithically. By making these adjustments, we have been able to expedite the schedule.

We encountered two hurricanes during this project and two full months of precipitation, well over the historical average with December being a record setting month. Even with these weather challenges, the project has tracked ahead of  the original schedule and topped off in late March 2018.
