Kent State College of Architecture & Engineering Design
Kent State University has been working to change their image to a more pedestrian friendly campus. A new pedestrian esplanade has been added which has encouraged walking and biking. The new architectural building sits along the esplanade, which is now the center of attention upon entering the campus.
The architectural finishes were designed to tie the look of the building into downtown Kent. Our Lithko team went through a lot of upfront discussions on how to meet the specifications while keeping the desired architectural look. We also involved the architect while evaluating drawings to verify dimensions.
Our scope included 24 – 50 feet high bay shoring, exposed columns, foundations, architectural walls, decks, polished topping slabs, 10 ½ – 17 inch thick slabs, sloped roof, and 115,000 square feet of structural deck.
