Lyric at Norton Commons
Lyric at Norton Commons in Louisville, KY, is a new large mixed-use 7 building development which includes apartments, retail, office, and a parking garage. Lithko’s Central Kentucky BURG’s scope includes foundations, slab on grade, slab on metal deck, sitework, and an elevated podium. Our scope for the precast parking garage includes the foundations, slab on grade and topping slabs.
The project is part of a life style community which houses several thousand people. This takes some extra coordination and precautions. Our crews are working hard to keep the area clean and taking extra safety measures with pedestrians. There are work hour restrictions, resulting in morning rush hour pours. This is not an ideal situation, but our team is doing a great job coordinating with our suppliers to ensure our materials are delivered on time and are not impacted by traffic. The overall project design further complicates the situation in that we must maintain access for other trades while constructing the high-bay podium. Our team has been successful coordinating with those trades during this phase of work.
As a result of the design, the pool could not be built until the buildings around it were complete. This created issues for the plumber and pool inspections, as the plumbing could not be installed before the foundations. To provide access later, 48- inch pipe was installed 4-5 feet below the slab on grade.
For the elevated decks, we diligently worked with a licensed engineer on the shoring design, as well as a 3rd party engineer to peer review the design and inspect insulation.
Our work on the 7 buildings is nearly complete. The sitework and hardscape will begin as they come available over the summer.
