Nationwide Children’s Near East Parking Garage & Office Building
Work is underway on phase 2 of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Master Facilities Plan. The Behavioral Health Pavilion is a major project in this phase, as well as a new office building and parking garage on the east side. The office and parking garage will provide space for non-clinical employees and more parking for the hospital. Our work includes foundations, walls, slab on grade, Structural decks, and slab on metal deck.
The owner asked for an accelerated schedule. This reduced the duration from 12 to 10 months, incorporating 37 deck placements in 33 weeks with a vast majority of our scope being executed during the inclement winter weather. To accommodate the schedule changes, our team has come up with a detailed plan to build the decks faster. We are collaborating with the engineer of record and the garage designer on the new plan.
We have installed 4,700 cubic yards of foundations and 80,000 square feet of walls in 2.5 months. During our planning cycle, it was determined we would use slinger trucks and Telebelts to place over 24,000 tons of stone, due to our limited access and coordination of other trades. The speed of the material placements was greatly increased because of these two machines. This is very crucial on this tight, hectic job site.
