Olathe West High School

K-12 Education

This $77 million school being built in western Olathe, Kansas will be the fifth high school building for Olathe Public Schools. It will focus on 21st-century learning, emphasizing the use of technology, open, modular learning spaces, and collaboration among students. The focal points will be the Learning Commons – a three-story lobby connecting to an open media center, and the Learning Communities – four wings where students will attend regular classes. It will be finished for the 2017-18 school year.

This design-build project has had numerous changes. It currently includes 227 tilt panels. Bracing the panels has been a challenge with several tilt-up sub-buildings inside the building and three levels of structural steel. We have used five different panel erection sequences.
