OSU Academic Building & Parking Garage
The new Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences Medical Academic and Simulation Center is part of an effort to strengthen the medical education offered to students on the Tulsa-based campus, in the hopes of addressing the physician shortage in Oklahoma. It will include a hospital simulation lab with an emergency room, operating room, intensive care unit, birthing suite and ambulance bay that will enable students to simulate procedures and practice skills commonly utilized in hospitals across the country.
Our work included foundations, walls, slab-on-grade, slab-on-deck, columns, Ductilcrete slab, slab-on-metal deck and tilt-up panels. We worked on the four-story, 99,335-square-foot Medical Academic Building and the five-story, 134,344-square-foot precast parking garage.
Rock and water were encountered during pier drilling, which created conditions beyond what had been anticipated by the information available to bidders. The project team rallied with our pier driller (Tulsa Pier Drilling) and evaluated the situation, determined a cost impact and presented it to our customer, Flintco, to keep the project moving forward. A cost per hole was agreed to and work continued.
