OSU McKnight Performing Arts Center

Universities

The construction of a $60 million performing arts facility is creating a lot of buzz around the Oklahoma State University campus due to the impact it will have on their arts program.  Manhattan Construction selected Lithko to install the piers, grade beams, basement and core walls, slab on grade and slab on metal deck.

Working on a live campus creates a tight jobsite and limited laydown area. Deliveries are coordinated for efficiency and materials carefully organized and staged. The Engineer submitted an atypical request for the 90’ core wall for the main stage to be braced until the structural steel was installed.  To accommodate, our team installed multiple steel beams from wall to wall. The 53’ core wall required a special form liner for Acoustics. The slab on metal deck has many different elevations, which caused us to do smaller pours all in one placement to maximize budget.

Our project execution process contributed to the successful outcome of this project. We did detailed planning with three different crews every day to seek input and to ensure they understood their work. We also met once a week to review the previous week results and adjusted our plan as needed.
