OU College of Medicine Tower

Universities

The new academic office building for the University of Oklahoma (OU) College of Medicine, scheduled to open in February 2016, will help further elevate the academic mission of the college and enhance the education it provides to future physicians. The nine-story building is strategically located just south of the Children’s Hospital and north of the OU Physicians Building and the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center.

This steel-frame office tower has a six-and-a-half-story, cast-in-place garage. We have completed 405,000 square feet of flat work, combining slab-on-grade, slab-on-metal deck and post-tension garage deck. We also poured 180,000 square feet of cast-in-place walls, including two free-standing core walls 187 feet tall, cast ahead of the structural steel building erection.

The building and garage cover 90 percent of the construction site, so the coordination of staging, logistics and material deliveries was very important on a daily basis.
