Project Titan

Distribution Centers

A team from Lithko’s Greenville Burg traveled to Myerstown, PA to work on a 615,000 square foot spec building for one of our top customers, Duke Realty Construction. Our work consisted of footings, slabs, tilt up walls (138 panels, 10 inches thick), and 120,000 square feet of paving.

Communication is key, when working on a project that requires us to travel outside of our BURG hometown. Our team learned the value of staying ahead of material orders and purchases, ensuring the project crew has the materials they need, when they were needed.

Early in the project we swapped the engineered rebar mat reinforcing in the wall panels for conventional rebar due to schedule constraints. Our team worked closely with the rebar fabricator to ensure we were working from the correct drawings and design.

Running projects in the Pennsylvania area, in the late fall/early winter comes with more chances to encounter inclement weather. Besides the normal winter protection (protecting subgrade and blanketing panels), our crew did a great job coordinating panel pours during the cold weather. We held multiple meetings each week, reviewing panel pour schedules/sequence and how it was going to be affected by the elements. Additionally, we looked at how we could optimize the schedule while shifting the panel sequence.

From the beginning we experienced project timetable setbacks due to poor site conditions. Even with this delay and the interference from the cold weather, our Project Titan team successfully pulled through and met the original project timeframe.
