QuikTrip

Mixed Use

As part of QuickTrip’s long-term plan, they are combining their manufacturing and distribution divisions. The new 270,000 square foot facility will accommodate QuikTrip’s growth and add more than 100 jobs to the Tulsa area. Lithko’s scope includes shallow foundations, slab on grade, slab on metal deck and the placement of tilt-up panels.

Tulsa summer weather brings extreme temperatures and a lot of rain. As a result, the project experienced a delay before the dirt work could begin. We re-sequenced the work and added manpower, which reduced our durations by 3 weeks.

Due to the geological conditions of the project site, a large amount of limestone rock had to be blasted from the ground. This activity caused larger than normal excavations for the strip footings.  We utilized extra rigid insulation that we had at our office in order to minimize our waste in these areas.

Due to the mixed-use component of the building, there are varying slab types and slab thicknesses. We installed freezer slabs that were surrounded by insulated metal panels and PNA Armor edge joint assemblies at door openings.  8”, 11” and 13” thick slabs made it difficult to sequence and place the slabs.  We utilized our detailed planning processes to optimize efficiency and maximize budget.

Our in-depth planning, sequencing of work and coordination of other trades, drove the overall project schedule and contributed to the project’s success.
