River Spirit Casino Resort

Hospitality

The $365 million expansion of the River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, included a casino, performing arts center, hotel, and precast parking garage. The Lithko Tulsa BURG’s scope on the parking structure included drilled pier foundations, walls, 75,000 square feet of slab on grade, and 333,000 square feet of precast topping slabs. For the 30-story hotel tower, our team installed drilled pier foundations, core shaft walls, 18,000 square feet of slab on grade, and 400,000 square feet of cast in place flat plate post tension decks.

Due to the excessive weight of the structures and close proximity to the river, the design called for massive drilled pier and cap foundations. We installed some temporary and permanent casing because of the water infiltration into the piers from the river.

The hotel tower had a multitude of perimeter embedded items in order to secure the glass and precast sections of the exterior façade. The large elevator and stair cores were constructed simultaneously and with a single self-climbing system. The weather in Oklahoma can change drastically throughout the day. We worked on this project all year long, so enduring every type of weather that Oklahoma had to offer including extreme heat, tornados, and ice storms. Even with the inclement weather our team successfully hit the schedule milestones, which were imperative to ensure the other trades could mobilize behind us.

We used resources from both the Tulsa and Oklahoma City BURGs due to the schedule and different types of competencies this project entailed.  We brought over one of our highly competent structural deck crews from Oklahoma City to build the flat plate slabs. Our consistent, regular sequence, the turnover rate of the floors, and our collaborative BURG effort was key to this project’s success.
