The Foundry at 304

Mixed Use

The Foundry, located in Bloomington, home of the Indiana University Hoosiers, will offer 28 apartments close to a public walking trail in the city. Lithko is working with Onyx and East on the foundations, slab on grade, slab on metal deck, all cast in place concrete. The building is 5 stories total, with one story below grade parking, one story of retail space, and 3 stories of residential.

Our team worked closely with Onyx and East, during the Customer Plan Presentation, to set up a site logistics plan and coordinate detailed job sequencing. Through this process, we created a schedule to pour the basement walls first, thus allowing the excavation contractor to work at the same time.

Thus far, there have been a couple of unique challenges on the project. Excavation of the site has proven to be very difficult due to the limestone bedrock that is typical in the area. Due to the walking trail, we installed a one-sided wall system, to make sure none of the existing trail was disturbed.

Our portion of the work is set to be complete in January 2017.
