Tryon Place

Mixed Use

Located on the corner of Tryon and Stonewall Streets in Uptown Charlotte, Tryon Place is a 27-level steel structure and includes offices for Alley Financial and parking garage. Lithko’s package included slab on grade, two cores, mud mats, foundations, and slab on metal deck.

The most unique challenge on this project has been the three-hundred-pound anchor bolts cast into both cores that contain 4 pilasters with 64 bolts. That’s 256 of these heavy bolts we had to maneuver in place! We successfully placed a template to hold them together in the correct location through all the rebar congestion.  For the core formwork we selected the DOKA MF240. We chose this system due to the frame mats and its ability to accommodate the taller lifts with the SCC mix for the cores.

Due to the rock anchor placement, our schedule was hindered by 8 weeks. The steel contractor was due to begin their work in mid-September of 2018 and with the delay, it did not seem possible. Due to our diligent planning, we were able to gain 6 of the 8 weeks back and they still began their erection the first week in October.
