Xscape Movie Theater
The new cinema in the Bridgepointe Commons development will be the second Xscape Movie Theatre in the Louisville area. The Central Kentucky BURG’s work included 50,000 square feet of slab on grade, 68,500 square feet of tilt-up panels, slab on metal deck, mezzanine and stadium seating, and site concrete.
Our team encountered some interesting hurdles when it came to the logistics of this job. Typically, there is a greater amount of slab on grade than panel square footage on tilt-up projects; however, the interior walls separating the 12 theaters were tilt-up in addition to the exterior. The combination of extensive tilt-up, pour backs, and the multiple elevations on the slab, made the tilt-up sequence a challenging phase of work to plan. Further complicating the situation, high power lines bordered one side of the project. We worked closely with TMC Cranes and Tommy Delosh on the panel layout and erection plan. Ultimately, we stacked 30 panels and utilized 6 separated additional casting slabs. We had to constantly re-work the grade to allow crane access.
Our collaboration with TMC Crane and Tommy Delosh was a key factor in the success on this project. Due to our detailed plan for the tilt-up sequence, we completed our work a week ahead of schedule.
